SOYLENT BOOMERS

Tuesday is Soylent Green DayImage by bandita via Flickr

SO HIGHLY UNLIKELY IS IT

THAT THE BOOMER GENERATION,

WHO'VE BEEN FILLING UP THE BALLOTS

FOR YEARS OF OUR ELECTIONS;

THAT THIS GENERATION

RAISED ON WEALTH AND PRIVILEGE

WOULD SEEK ITS OWN DESTRUCTION

BY DYING AT AN EARLY AGE.

RUNNING MARATHON FOOT RACES

EATING STRINGY SPROUTS

GRABBING HEART PACE-MAKERS

TO KEEP ALIVE THO' HEARTS GO OUT

DOES NOT SIGNAL A PEOPLE THAT FEAR

THE MENACE OF GHOSTLY GOP JOKERS.

THEY WON'T SUICIDE AS VOLUNTEERS

BEFORE THESE WRAITH-LIKE BLOWHARDS.

PICTURE THE LATEST JOKER,

PASTY WHITE, PALE LIPS GASHED RED,

MUTTERS, GIGGLING TO HIS JAILORS,

COULD NOT CARE LESS IF HE WERE DEAD.

BOOMERS HAVE SO MUCH TO LOSE

THEIR HOMES AND CARS AND CLUBS;

OLD SCARE-MONGERS WITH PROSTATE BLUES

CLUTCH TRAITORS' FORTUNES IN BONY STUBS

BARELY ABLE TO CATCH A BREATH

THEY CATCH A BIBLE INSTEAD

AND THEY LIVE EVEN LESS AND LESS,

BELIEVE GOD WANTS THE MAJORITY DEAD.

GREEDY BASTARDS'D BE THE FIRST

TO GOBBLE UP THE BOOMER GREEN

SUCK ANY LIFE BLOOD THAT MIGHT BURST

SOME LIFE INTO THEIR EYES UNSEEING.

THEY'VE NEVER BEEN MORE THAN THEY ARE,

ZOMBIES FIRST FOR POWER;

THEN FOR RICHES, WORLDS AFAR

NOW FOR "GRACE" OF GOD, THEY CLING

TO WHAT THEY NEVER WERE.

DIDN'T THEY
ALREADY ADMIT...

...S & P's ratings were for sale?
Why still quote them
in the same old way?

...Financials that get too big
must be bailed;
are too big to fail?

Why are four
brokerage firms
allowed to
pair into
just TWO?

...California has the 5th largest economy
but is twisting slowly, slowly
as banks, insurance, car companies
are bailed out or bankruptcy'd
with Federal spotters, for their safety?

What would be revealed
to a fly on the wall?
Who's made what deals
of who wins,
who falls?

SHOCK & AWE

The Bombs Bursting in Air

FireWorks, like real bombs,

foul the air with

particles;

lucky us, we suffer not

as do allied Iraqis-

civilian minds, vivified by

the genuine

articles.

Small and wan,

perfunctory,

the "celebratory"

rocketry

over Baghdad's victory

(foster-child of nobody)

reflected in the

Key

we gave them

Tail Wags Republickin' Dog

TAIL'S WAGGIN'

Tail wags their dogs,
in more ways than one:
pack your baggage
and your bags
and git out of Town!
Do "soul-mates"
during time YOU own!

The line of criminals,
hypocrites and liars
grows too long to recall:
Sanford doesn't,
that is clear:
exacerbating his own fall
from grace

With his tongue-wagging
from his saintly face,
as he's bragging
about babes
he has seduced,

maybe he thinks
he'll keep his job
or be the President
by flaunting "sexuality;"
He's out of touch
with how much
the public can put up
with sordid tales,
adulterers' betrayals,
and low-life reality?

"Out damned spot!"
Lady Macbeth
did shout
at her own venality;
Hey Sanford!
We can see
right through
and YOU
are simply
CREEPY!

REVERSE RACISM

Does "racism" mean just
discrimination
by a majority group
against a smaller one?

Racism's
"against a race"
based on
skin tone.

Opposition's built-in
to "discrimination;"
but the tone of "reverse"
makes it sound like it's worse
or foolish because
"few" can never win.

The word "racism" fits
both scenarios
because neither is
based on one's merits;

One is not "forward"
(which has a reverse;)
nor is one more backward
since it wasn't FIRST!

Teddy Kennedy

Senate HouseImage by stevecadman via Flickr

Can the Lion Still be Heard?

Teddy's called the Lion
because of his heart's size;
two brothers better loved than he
live their legends there, inside.

Teddy conquered Envy,
overcame archetypal Pride,
and, now unprotected,
pulled by history's tide,

transcended grief, the death of selves,
and turning toward our writhing needs,
through hails of blood and thunder,
impeding Hellfires' deeds,

he created yet more spacious heart
made common cause within;
raising fraternal sword,
The Battle Tyranny is joined.

Hero's avalanching truths
by thousands,
thousands poured to drown it:
he raged, he warred, he wearied,
rallied again to interdict:

in his voice
"of the truth
that shall never die,"
he raised our weakened eyes
to see a prize;
a great man, alive,
and wise,
to be our guide.

He's giving all he can,
his senatorial years,
and then, a thousand steps,
plus one, upon this road less taken
toward the people's right
to health, to life;
Forty Years, alone, ensured
our right was not forsaken.

he attends as well to other tasks,
tasks personally sacred,
will we own our mantle, vow,
keep our own dream alive?
Or eschew another battle
for humanity,
fighting only for calamity,
and be taken
in untimely hour?

Obama on My Mind

Undead Indeed album coverImage via Wikipedia

You know how you know
when something is wrong?
(It's a lot like
when somethin' ain't right)

An un-ease,
a dis-ease,
all day long,
"all day
and all of the night."

I thought I heard,
I think he said,
(I'm talking about Obama here
who raised me from the dead)

without saying who
and without saying why,
tone confidential,
kinda "by-the-by;"

"except of course those detainees
at Guantanamo
that can't
be tried"?

Impossible. He wouldn't say it
'cuz that would mean
he's ok with
suspending the "writ"
and "indeterminant stays"
for prisoners
(what's a "detainee?")
to be
in our custody
endlessly,
who no one can hear
and no one can see!

I don't know about you
but, to me,
the Magna Carta is
the very first brick
placed,
(and the base)
of Western Democracy.

Now there's a wind
blows inside my head,
slamming doors,
breaking glass,
groans of the undead;

a familiar,
an unwanted
sense of
nameless dread.

The Mind's Mind

Mind Is Not Brain album coverImage via Wikipedia

every mind is different;
some owners have control:
my mind is my good friend
and it has a mind of its own

some minds choose religion;
sometimes owners make the choice:
it's not up to me, you see...
it's my mind that has the voice

i've seen the mind's emotions
submit to the owners' will:
though my emotions overwhelm,
my mind will not not feel 'em

my mind gets right up in my face
if I'm not paying attention;
others' sole job is to support
their owners'
imaginary personas

choosers doubt minds' independence,
minded minds blame low IQ:
'til now, neither has suspected
to what these differences are due

if it's so some folks have minds
and some have minds with minds,
intelligence is not the key;
check "mindedness" for the clue

Too Small to Succeed

TOO BIG TO FAILImage by John Kannenberg via Flickr

It was a big thing
for a while
to teach kids
self-respect.

"A good self-image,"
was the chant
to free all people
from want.

We hadn't heard
of businesses
who were
"too big to fail."

That big? Our laws
can't remedy;
now we're too small
to succeed.

Capitalism Killed Democracy!

foreclosure signImage by TheTruthAbout... via Flickr

While we were being told to save
our money for a rainy day,
all the factories and jobs
just up and slipped away.
Then, they say, grow your money
and with us invest;
you'll never go without, our
plastic lines your nest.

Money not spent on gadgetry
we use to pay each other;
our "service-based economy"
has only newly printed money.

Overlords we'd never seen
held our money "for us;"
they gambled theirs for magic beans,
for ours? Twice stole it from us.

"Flat-lining" on the beeping box
above you when you're dead;
our life-blood is new ink for them;
they can't sell the lives we hocked,
they tax what's left,
leave us bereft,
and act as though they're shocked!

Lesson 1: How our Economy Failed

Hey! Where's your manners?
Wha'dya s'posed ta say?
These nice financial planners
are there to save us
each and every day,
teach us how their game is played.

When they are running low on cash
they call in a favor
from a government official
who brings $$$ right on over,
No Questions Asked.

Now business carries on again,
our forefathers did not forbid
them to party like the Romans,
bonus their minions
with our billions.
Oops! Bummer! Gentlemens' chagrin:
caught both lyin' and stealin'
Let the Beggin' Begin!

Pretending it was obvious
tax Bail money was for business,
no part of government asked
for an accounting or a receipt,
not a letter, not an email
of how they spent the Bail.

(That can't be true;
they're just "copping
to a lesser"
crime of stupidity,
of "I don't remember"
rather than their
shameless thievery.)

CEO's make hay and play and hideaway
tax money from 'sharecroppers' pay;
we feel a bit taken aback,
then realizing we've been had,
it's NOT all good;
we're fightin' mad!

Drag in Mr. AIG and make him swear the truth,
blindsided Congress hollers
"what have you done with all the loot?"
Mr. AIG is a gentleman,
remaining serene and cool;
he says he is offended (!)
by Congress' oafish fools.

Barney's frank next time he speaks
and tells it like it is:
the interviewer asks
"Why can't we take it back
and prosecute these deeds?"

Barney answers, with effect,
our laws allow for that,
except in the case
of the "Too Big to Fail"s.

A tipping point
is reached
when Corporations amass so much
of the nations' resources,
they pass into a "Nirvana" where
they follow only rules of theirs
and (drop your jaws)
they are no longer subject to ours,
or any,
laws.
